Terrible gas for a year that has stopped me from leaving house.

Had IBS for around 6 years, had a argument with family member about a year ago, ever since I have had terrible gas that has stopped me sleeping and leaving house. Any tips on how to help? Doctors have been useless.

  1. This is certainly a common thing among many who suffer with IBS and one of the more annoying to embarrassing symptoms. It is difficult to deal with at times although we do have info on it and a number of articles. You can start here: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/symptoms/gas-flatulence-common-sign-symptom-of-ibs Many of our community members have also written articles on dealing with it that are worth checking out! Let us know if there's anything else we can do to help! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

  2. Have you tried any OTC medicines which contain Simeticone (alternatively spelled Simethicone, I think) That can help so I hear with gas. There are products like Rennie Deflatine, and a liquid formula for young children called (I think) "Infanticol" or similar...which might be worth a try even though you are not a young child. You may get different brand names than the ones I hear of in the UK. Ask the pharmacist.
Emotional shocks and upsets can definitely upset our guts.

  3. I have found activated charcoal tablets relieve the gas and cramping that comes with IBS. When 1 tablet is not enough take 2. To me it's a miracle OTC tablet
