"I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago. It is quite discouraging, as I have been on several meds and really none of them have really helped me. I have tried Culturelle which is a probiotic and it did relieve some symptoms but did not get rid of the bloating which occurs and the urgency. By accident, I came down with a lower spinal problem because of lifting something extremely heavy. I was hospitalized and an MRI was performed. No major damage was done to my spine but I had swelling and a couple of herniated disks. I was released from the hospital and sent home with 300 mg of Gabapentin. This med is for alleviating pain and a nerve blocker. To my surprise, it also controlled my IBS. My spinal problem has been alleviated but I still take one Ga ape"
Sorry about that...to continue, I take one 300mg of Gabapentin when I must be going somewhere for the day. This med works for me and relieves all symptoms, however, it can leave you very tired or sleepy. So, I am careful not to be driving any long distances when I take this med. .
