Is this SIBO? Please help!

Hi all! I have not been officially diagnosed with IBS but have been struggling for months and am wondering if anyone might have some insight.

One day at work, almost exactly 8 months ago, I began to experience stomach discomfort and unpleasant smells. I proceeded to have symptoms every single day, and described it as a buggy feeling. I did multiple tests and everything has come out clear, my doctors do not believe it’s SIBO but haven’t officially tested for it. I did 2 rounds of Xifaxin which seemed to help when on it, but after being off for 2 weeks I feel even worse.

I now often experience pain after eating, and gas as well. Leaky gas that I do not even feel but smell, so you can imagine how horrifying that’s been. I’ve been tested for food allergies and nothing at all came up. I have an appointment with a naturopath doctor but it’s not for a while. I’m really at a loss as to what to do and am wondering if anyone thinks this could be SIBO? I’m experimenting now with herbal supplements to see if it helps. Whenever the doctors have examined my stomach, all of them have said I seem to have inflammation. Just trying to figure out what the heck this could be!

I also get very bad pain and gas if I haven’t eaten for a couple hours, different than hunger pains- something is just clearly very off with my gut. I’ve cut out dairy, wheat, and as much sugar as I can.

Any ideas??
Thank you so much for any advice/suggestions!!!

  1. I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this and that the doctors can't find the cause. What kinds of tests did they do?
When is your appointment with the the naturopathic doctor? Hopefully, they will be able to help you.
Did you experience anything out of the ordinary before your symptoms started (a lot of stress, for example?) Have you tried keeping a food diary to see if you've developed an intolerance to something you're eating regularly?
