Journey from Chrons to IBS

Hi

Hello I am new here. Here is my story in brief

Diagnosed, or rather mis diagnosed as having IBS (Crohns diagnosed finally after emergency surgery – days before said surgery being laughed at by a GP and told to me to “go home and use a hot water bottle”)
In remission from Crohns for several years now but IBS has taken it’s place (self diagnosed)
Wondering if others have had similar experiences of Crohns to IBS or of bad GP’s?

Personally I struggle to find my trigger foods and get terrible bloating building up over several days then relieved somewhat via the bathroom and it starts again

Dave

  1. Hi Dave, I'm so sorry that this happens to you and that your GP didn't take you seriously. That's terrible. 🙁 I know that was diagnosed with both Crohn's and IBS, so I'm hoping she can share her experience with you. I'm also going to link a couple of her articles, including one about bloating, below: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/naturopath-experience, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/severe-bloat, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/daily-supplements. If I'm not mistaken, she was also diagnosed and treated for SIBO, which can cause bloating. Have you been tested for that?
I hope you'll get some relief soon. Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)

    1. Hi, thanks for the info. I honestly had never heard of SIBO before! It seems to tie in with my symptoms. Also with my unquenchable thirst.
      Dave

      1. I'm glad it was helpful. If the symptoms seem to align with what you experience, I'd ask your doctor for a test. It's a breath test, this article describes the procedure if you're interested: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/getting-tested-for-sibo. Did you find a better doctor since your terrible experience with your old GP? Karina (team member)

    2. Thanks, yes I changed surgeries and they are very good.
      Thanks again

      Dave

      1. Glad to hear that! Please keep us updated if you end up doing the test. Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)
