IBS-C Help please

Hi, i have had IBS, mostly C for about 20 years. I have tried low fodmap, to a little success, every type of laxative known to man, every type of bulking agent and drinking more water, eating more fiber, exercising, meditation, walking, different diets, different medication and nothing can really provide any relief

All laxatives and bulking stuff does is make me even more bloated, and fart, thats it.

I have little appetite, it feels like i have swallowed a tennis ball and its stuck in my gut every time i eat, if i can go, its only about half of what i should.

My gut makes horrendous noises, is always bloated, gassy, but often trapped gas and stool.

I have tried probiotics, different multivitamins, peppermint oil, ginger, Betaine HCL and a host of other things i cant remember right now

I have bad depression and anxiety and have bipolar disorder. I understand the whole gut brain axis thing and have done a lot of research into nutrition, diet, mental health and the gut in my 20 years, more so over the past 5 years or so.

Im at my wits end, it has gotten so bad i even resorted to buying that moviprep stuff u get pre-colonoscopy, but even that didn't do anything and the feeling of eaten a tennis ball remained

Its making me so depressed and anxious, it even had me hospitalized in a Mental health hospital for a short while as it got so bad

Sadly, Low fodmap gave me an eating disorder which i have not fully been able to recover from, i still binge sometimes and i find it very hard to get it into my head i can eat more than 3 times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) If i snack it just bloats me again meaning i cant even summons the courage to force a meal, kowing i will feel dreadful after

My diet is fairly healthy, lots of lean meats, fruit, veg, healthy fats and really only small amounts of things like cake, cookies, biscuits, etc, so really i should have a good digestive system but i do not and its really making me very depressed

  1. Ralphy I understand 200%. It is agonizing some times. the only walking I can do is slow with my walker. My knee gives out so have to use a walker. Food who the hell knows what will work. I'm still not sure about gluten free. How do I get tested? I am seriously trying to avoid gluten..........I'm so glad I found you here. We can support each other>

    1. blood test normally

  2. I feel so sorry for you. Horrible stuff to deal with daily. Sending big big hugs.

    1. I'm sorry. I totally get it though. All of it. Plus sickening pain in both shoulders. Cannot be fixed. Rotator cuff repair done twice didn't really work. I can't do this! Help!

      1. any help or tips please?

        1. It really seems like you have tried everything, I'm so sorry that nothing is helping. I suppose that you have seen numerous doctors in these 20 years? The only thing I can think of is to maybe try an alternative approach, like seeing a naturopathic doctor, if you haven't already: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/naturopath-experience. I also wanted to share the following stories with you: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/stories/gut-neck-problems-linked, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/forums/is-intestinal-circulation-heart-state-related-to-ibs, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/stories/statins. Sometimes, digestive problems seem to be related to something else entirely.... I really hope that you'll find answers soon. Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)
