Has anyone been prescribed Linzess??

I’ve has IBS-C for many years, I’m 66 . My gastroenterologist just prescribed Linzess but I read the side effects and I’m scared to begin a new medication. Has anyone has any advice good or bad in if this could help? Tysm

  1. I been on Linzess for several years. No side effects except after you eat in the morning, make sure you are near a bathroom because you may get a sudden urge to go..

    2. Same here. You just never know how much or when you need to go after eating that first meal. Just be prepared if you are out for Bfast, or out shopping etc. Good things are, you won't be bloated, or have gas pains, heartburn from having the issues from C.

  2. I can relate so much to your fear of side effects when starting a new medication, I get that too. We has this article: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/medications/linzess-reviews-how-well-it-works-and-side-effects as well as this forum: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/forums/linzess-for-ibs-c where community members shared their experience with Linzess as well. I hope more community members will chime in soon to share their experiences with you.

    1. Tysm for your reply. I guess I will begin to take it this weekend and give it a try! I give up with laxatives Miralax fiber smooth move tea fleet enemas etc…

      1. Get off of laxitives and enemas. Causes more long term issues. You may need miralax now and then, but not regularly. I been on Linzess for a few years now for IBS-C. It works. You take it first thing in the morning, before b-fast. Only issue is, soon after you have B-fast, you may have a sudden urge out of no-where to hit the bathroom. There is not much warning sometimes, so if you are out shopping etc, my advice is to wear a full adult diaper with those diaper covers, just in case. Also, carry a change bag in your car, with wipes, change matt, etc. Not ideal, but better than being blocked up and having gas pains.

      2. Thank you so much for sharing your insights with the community! Did you experience issues after taking laxatives and doing enemas for a long time?
How do you feel for the rest of the day after that unpredictable bathroom visit in the morning?

    2. Thank you so much for that information. I appreciate it so much

      1. Did you end up starting Linzess, or you still unsure on whether you want to try it or not? All the best, Karina (team member)
