Does anyone experience IBS-C with tenesmus ?

Hello everyone,

I hope somebody can shed light on what I have been experiencing for the last 6 months.

I haven't been officially diagnosed with IBS but endoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan have not shown anything wrong with my gut.

I usually have constipation. How I know it is because it take me around 2 to 3 days to have bowel movements. Although my stool is solid and of a good size, sometimes it is bulky and hard.

Almost everytime in this 6 month period, after bowel movements, i have this feeling of wanting to relieve myself again but when I do, nothing comes out. I have made some readings and they say that IBS is mostly relieved after bowel movement but its not happening to me though. Is there anyone with the same symptoms as I have. Thank you for reading and praying for relief to us sufferers.

  1. I also have that annoying feeling of having to do more after a bowel movement. I don't know if it is tenesmus because I don't have actual pain (I have read there is pain with tenesmus). I am thinking it is additional stool, but that is so dry it won't come out and if it does, it is just a little bit and there is still some in there. Other days, after I go, it feels just fine. It is very annoying because if I try to push to hard, I fear another rectal prolapse which I already had repaired in the past.

    1. Hello,

Thank you for sharing. Are you diagnosed with IBS? We might have the same reason why there is that feeling of incomplete bowel movement but in my case my hemorrhoids might be inflamed so i take medication to heal that. Do you have that sensation of pressure in the left land right ower abdomen too? Like your colon is contracting muscles to push stool?

      1. Have you tried taking probiotics? Also, eating fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi or anything pickled. Are you drinking enough water? I used to struggle with constipation and those are the things that helped me. -Elizabeth (team member)

        1. . Thank you for the suggestion. I am eating unsweetened plain yogurt before breakfast as probiotics.

        2. That is definitely helpful. Have you ever tried kefir? That would be an excellent source of probiotic in a yogurt. -Elizabeth (team member)

      2. Try IBgard and Metamucil
