IBS triggered by bowel movement

Within 10 minutes of having a bowel movement, my stomach blows up to an enormous extent, is hard, and extremely painful. I suffer from constipation, take meds to relieve constipation but this still does not eradicate the pain. The problem has become a DAILY NIGHTMARE. There is scarcely a day that I am not in debilitating pain. Have had a colonoscopy - all clear. Docs are clueless!

  1. Could it be SIBO? Ask your doctors to test you for this. I hope you feel better! Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

    1. I am having similiar symptoms & wonder the same about SIBO particularly after having a bad ear infection for which I finally chose to take antibiotics after many years! The results were not only relief for my ear during the medication treatment, but my bowel movements became what I would imagine as normal ( cannot remember after 40 years of IBS) . No pain, no bloating, & easy evacuation for about 2 weeks before it all slowly reverted back to my present condition!

      1. How does the doctor test for SIBO ?

        1. Thanks for reaching out. This is a good question for your doctor. In addition to speaking with your doctor, this article may be helpful: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/sibo. Wishing you the best, Kelly, Irritablebowelsyndrome.net Team Member
