Help with severe constipation

Currently on four senna tablets and 1500 mg magnesium nightly per gastroenterologist. Now they stopped working.

Has anyone tried Silver Fern motility product and if so does it work. Its very costly

Any other things that work for you
Thanks

  1. Hey , I'm sorry to hear that your supplements are no longer working! Hopefully someone here can respond with some suggestions. Have you told your doctor that the regime you're on is no longer helping? That might be the best place to start! I also found a couple articles that might be helpful in the meantime.

This author gives a list of supplements they use for their IBS symptoms: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/daily-supplements
And this one talks about fiber and laxatives for constipation: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/treatment/fiber-laxatives

I hope you find some answers soon! Please keep in touch. - Kat (Team Member)

    1. Hi Deb,
I have been taking a rounded tablespoon of powdered L Glutamine every morning. It's done wonders for me. My doctor told me there's no problem taking it daily, but check with yours. I'm a regular gal now. 😉 Good luck.

      1. Awesome that L Glutamine has done wonders for you! I have been taking L Glutamine capsules once daily, and haven't noticed any changes 🙁 How lucky you are that an OTC supplement is enough to make you regular. I recently tried Linzess, with mixed results. I'm discontinuing it. It'll be too expensive next year anyway, and that clinches it. Next I'll revisit Smooth Move tea. Good luck to us all on our search for the most effective/least expensive treatment. Hugs, Kim, moderator

    2. I was trying the same thing - senna & calm magnesium. I would talk to ur dr but also my combo stopped and took more calm magnesium to get things going - sometimes too much so :/

The Dr. had me on Lactulose liquid ( pancake syrup) horrible to get down - but man does it work !!!!
