Type of IBS

How do I know what type of IBS: a, b, c, d? MD wants to do another colonoscopy, the last one was 2017 she found a diverticulitis spot then but now thinks I have diverticulosis. Now at 73 no time for monkeying around. Need tried and true guidance from people with life experiences. Any comments much appreciated ♡

  1. Hi , I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this. Actually, the type of IBS you have just depends on your symptoms: IBS-D had predominant diarrhea, IBS-C constipation and IBS-M alternates between the two. Here's an article about the different subtypes: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/what-is-ibs/types-of-ibs. In addition, I wanted to share the following articles with you, they compare peoples' experiences living with different types: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/weighing-types, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/cramps-pain, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/diarrhea-changed-constipation. I really hope this helps. Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)
