Tips for managing IBS pain

Has anyone tried turmeric/curcumin capsules to relieve the cramping with IBS D?

  1. I have tried turmeric capsules in the past and they did nothing for me (I also have IBS-D), but at that time I was still searching for a miracle cure and hadn't addressed my diet and stress levels at all. So that may be why.
Now I always add tons of turmeric to my meals when I'm flaring and it helps.
More generally, have this article about turmeric and its possible effects on IBS: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/food/turmeric-help-symptoms, if you're interested, it talks about the studies that were done around it.
The following two articles mention positive effects: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/top-herbs, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/alternative-complementary-treatment/herbal-homeopathic-remedies-peppermint-oil, while another community member had a negative reaction to it: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/forums/turmeric. I guess it really depends on the person.
Please let us know if you end up trying the capsules!
Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)
