Pain relief

Hi any help would be appreciated. What pain medication helps. I get pain which lasts for hours after going to toilet in the mornings.

  1. I personally have never tried pain medication. But I do use Copaiba Essential oil topically, and wow does that take away the horrible abdominal pain that I would get during a flare.

Also, once after a long hospital stay, a doctor prescribed me a low dose of Valium. It really helped with pain management for me, although that drug is not used for that--it offered me great relief.

    1. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with such terrible pain. I suppose you’ve had all the tests done to figure out what causes it?
From what I’ve read on different forums, at least regarding over-the-counter medication, Tylenol helps some people but Ibuprofen might make things worse for some.

We also have this article about the different medications used for IBS: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/medications and this one specifically for antispasmodics: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/medications/antispasmotics-anti-muscle-spasm-medication-for-ibs. We also have an entire article collection about pain here: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/chronic-pain, you’ll find lots of info from different people there.
I hope this helps and that other community members will share their experiences with you soon.
