My IBS D Diagnosis

I have suffered severely from IBS D since 1996 and only recently have worked out what is causing it. FRUIT, HONEYand caffeine. I love my fruit and coffee, but it does not like my gut. Whether it is in the alcohol, jams, drinks or good old fruit including berries, I have to avoid it ALL. I have found decaf coffee us ok, but only 1 per day. I have become a home hermit over the last year, since I retired and now that I am feeling heaps better I now have to get over the anxiety of stepping out of my front door and get on with living.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm so sorry that you've been dealing with my IBS for so long. It's great though that you've been able to figure out what's causing your symptoms and are finally feeling better.
Getting over the anxiety of leaving the house can be so hard! In my experience, it helps to start slow so that the anxiety doesn't cause an unnecessary flare... but of course, we're all different.
Please keep us updated on your journey!

    1. Interesting Honey is causing it. Maybe its the sugar since sugar is in the fruits as well? Hmmm.

Coffee I can never stop having, I'll suffer to have my caffeine fix in the morning. Just 1 cup a day is fine for me. Used to do 3

      1. Oh wow, I wouldn't have thought of bacon when cutting out honey. It's always the "hidden" ingredients that make this so hard! How does your breakfast look now?

      2. I was wondering the same thing, about it maybe being the fructose. I know a person who's fructose intolerant, but not well enough to know what they eat.

    2. I really miss my bacon, but since I've given it up I have had no problems - I would have it at least 3x a week, along with my scrambled eggs.

      1. It's so great that you no longer have problems since giving it up. To me at least, feeling better is always worth it.
All the best, Karina (team member)
