Mucus with pink parts in it?

I am suffering from diarrhea at the moment (with thin stools and undigested food in it) and I have just have some anal discharge or mucus (wet fart) and it was mixed with some bright red or dull pink spots on it. I also have extreme gassiness and flatulence at the moment. Do you think this is anything to worry about? I has diagnosed with IBS a few days ago and they did a full physical exam (e.g. examining my abdomen) and the doctor said everything is fine. I also have health anxiety and also autistic spectrum disorder — and am going crazy over this now. Do you think it is anything serious and if this slightly pink mucus a typical symptom in IBS?

  1. Did your doctor run stool sample tests? Mine did 3: Calprotectin (to test for any inflammation going on), Lactoferrin (not sure what that is for, but if it's high it can mean further investigation is advised)
And the FIT test (fecal immunological test) It picks up if there is any bleeding at any place in the whole digestive system. That might not work with you though, if you have pink mucus, because that may be traces of blood. A bit of blood doesn't always have to be a 'red flag' for anything horrible though, but depending on what the doctor thinks, there may be a cause for further investigation.
It would be good if your doctor can get these tests done for you?
As far as I know, all sorts of things can be a part of IBS. But it may be best to get more thorough checks.

    1. Thank you for sharing and reaching out. As our community member suggested, it's always a good idea to speak with your doctor about any new, changing or concerning symptoms. Your doctor may wish to run some additional tests or they may ask you to continue to monitor for changes until your next visit.
