Gas/Gurgling

Hi there.

I’ve been battling with gut issues for quite some time. I would like to preface I have severe health anxiety and tend to exaggerate my symptoms but this doesn’t feel like it’s my head. I have had on and off gas gurgling in my lower tummy for almost a year. It’s comes and goes and it’s quite uncomfortable.

I also have recently had thinner stools, not pencil thin but thinner. I have been taking Miralax and Benefiber and feel as though it helps me go but I can’t get solid stool.

I’m worried I have something more sinister due to the gas and uncomfortable feeling in my stomach.

Has anyone experienced this before and been fine?

  1. I have definitely experienced this before. You will be okay. For me personally I really worked on eating a well balanced diet and adding probiotics. Fermented foods are great too like Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Kefir, anything pickled. Typically when this happens the gut flora is unbalanced. -Elizabeth (team member)

    1. how long did you have this? And what did it feel like for you?

  2. I've had the thinner stools that I contribute to just tighter muscle contractions within my intestines essentially narrowing them although I'm no gastrologist. Either way I wouldn't be too concerned unless they're very dark in color or blood present, which I've had to an extent as well and it turned out to be nothing but it warranted me getting an colonsopy because of that reason, the gurgling/sloshing I deal with daily. Try pressing low on your abdomen particularly the right side under your belly button and see if it makes a sound like a liquid mixed with gas or something moving around, it's usually a little uncomfortable when I do it as well, and can sometimes make you pass gas which may be beneficial in your situation. -James

    1. Hey there, I know your problem. Since I'm 25 (31 years now) I have had onsets of IBS-D (meaning I tend to get dirrhea).
Recently (since the end of last year), my main symptoms have turned into gurgling/bad bloating just like what you describe.
When things got worse, I took some prebiotics that helped with my original IBS-D. By some luck, better diet and more relaxation
in my life the problem subsided for over 2 1/2 months (my problem is back just for over a week now).
