Excessive smelly wind

I am a much older lady over 75. I honestly don’t know how to start enjoying my life. I’ve always had a lot of abdominal gas and I always need the loo urgently if I’m nervous. But for about a year now I’ve had the most diabolical offensive never-ending wind and I really believe it’s my diet but totally unsure how to or what to change. Does anyone on here also suffer with this and if so have you found sticking to a gluten- free diet helps? The older I get the more incapacitating the offending smell is becoming and I’m choosing to stay home rather than go out as more often than not I simply can’t control the amount of wind escaping. It is horrifically embarrassing. My GP referred me for tests but nothing came back untoward. The only suggestion was pelvic floor exercises which have done nothing at all for either the wind or the offensive smell. I’m wondering about a gluten - free diet as bread and cereal seem to be two culprits here. Thank you if you can help 😊

  1. I can relate to this 100%. There was a time where I had the most offensive gas, like truly something that seems like is not possible to smell so bad. In my personal experience it was 100% my gut flora being unbalanced. Bad bacteria makes bad smells. Definitely gluten free is a good idea. Really try to stay away from processed foods. Have lots of greens, veggies. Water. No soda. No candy. Sugar feeds the bad bacteria. Yeast too. Don't worry, it can be corrected. I was on a very strict diet for about 4 weeks. No sugar. I ate lots of fish and veggies. It all corrected itself. -Elizabeth (team member)
