Confused Menopause Lady

Hi,
I'm 54 going through menopause. Can anyone explain all these stomach issues? Is anyone going through the same as me?
Burning left side
Aching left side
Bloody Stools
Nervousness
Anxiety
Can't eat anything
Burping
Acid reflux
Sore throat
That's all I can think of at the moment.
Someone surely is going through this 🙁

  1. I am so sorry you are suffering. The symptoms you describe match those of IBS, gallbladder disease, and GERD, all of which I have or had. My IBS symptoms worsened after that. But, I went through menopause ten years ago in 2013 and it did not involve my digestive system at all. That said, women can experience menopause very differently. My symptom was terrible hot flashes and night sweats, for which I used a transdermal estradiol patch along with oral norethindrone, with much relief. Have you informed your doctor of your symptoms? I hope you can find some answers and relief very soon!

    1. I don't know whether to say you're lucky or unlucky, but to me you're lucky not to have these stomach issues. I cannot make these out heads or tails. I have gone to ER a couple of times and they have found nothing and next is a doctor appointment to see if they can get something done. Thank you for helping me through.

  2. I'm so sorry that you're going through this, that sounds terrible. 🙁
Menopause can definitely impact your digestive system, as can hormones in general: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/triggers/can-hormones-trigger-ibs. We've had this discussion about menopause, too: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/forums/ibs-and-weight-loss, you're definitely not alone.
Since you mention bloody stools and pain on your left side, however, I would definitely get tests done to make sure that nothing else is going on. Blood in your stool is not a symptom of IBS, so please be sure to talk to your doctor about it at your next appointment.
Do you have the appointment scheduled already?
