Abdominal pain if you wear something around the abdomin

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to know has anyone else experienced an increase in Abdominal pain/ abdominal wall pain while wearing something around your abdomin? I am unable to wear my high waist jeans, pants etc. Basically I can't wear anything around my abdomin even for a minute as it increases my pain (my pain always feels like an abdominal wall pain or muscular pain in the abdomi). Has anyone else experienced this?

  1. hmmm I don't personally experience pain, but I definitely am more uncomfortable. I could see why it would cause more pain! That area is already sensitive for many people with IBS and extra pressure there could irritate it. I would speak to your doctor about this if you haven't already. If you find out why, please let us know! I'm sure many people would be curios to see what you find. Thanks for sharing! Best wishes, Michaela (irritablebowelsyndrome.net Team Member)

    1. Hey! I did speak with my doctor about this. He said it is because of my IBS. He also said I suffer from Visceral hypersensitivity/somatic pain/neuropathic pain. So this may be related to that. I have consulted two doctors and both have the same opinion. I have been prescribed Pregablin 75mg but that didn't help at all. That's why I wanted to know is it happening only with me or someone else or experience the same pain.
Thanks for your response. Wishing you good health. Hugs!

  2. My symptoms always get worse when I wear something that presses on my stomach. Even if I've been feeling well it can make me extremely uncomfortable, and during a flare, even a mild one, I could never tolerate anything high-waisted.
I can only recommend buying high-waisted jeans in a bigger size and in a stretchier material, it's the only way I can wear them at all (again, not during a flare).

    1. You're definitely not the only one. I hope they end up working for you! All the best, Karina (team member)

  3. on the days my abdomen is bloated and feel cramping, I can’t wear anything tight around my waist. You will find me on the couch with my heating pad and I’ll take ibuprofen or hyoscyamine, sometimes both, which does help.

    1. Hey! I can totally understand how painful it can get. Sorry to know you are also experiencing such a horrible pain. My pain is kind of weird. Feels like a muscular pain in my abdomen and it's there 24x7. I feel it when I am standing or walking. I feel better when am just sitting. And yes walking increases my pain. For me ibuprofen makes me bloat like anything. It makes my bloating even worse. . Have never tried Hyoscyamine. Will try it. Thanks for your response and for sharing what helps you. Wishing you symptom free days ahead. Hugs!

  4. I feel bloated and uncomfortanle in pants at least once a week. I change into my softest pajamas when I wak through the door. I discovered Target actually has very stylish lounge wear that can look very hippie chic, paired with boots, and the waistline is very, very soft. The no best part is no one knows, except for me that I dress to survive, lol.

    1. Hey! Good to know that you found something comfortable for yourself. Thank you for sharing. Stay blessed! Hugs! 😀
