Tips on returning to work with IBS?

I was diagnosed with IBS in the wake of a diverticulitis episode earlier this year. At the time I worked from home but I was recently laid off. Now I have a new position and will be returning to an office environment. I am very anxious about suffering from IBS while I am there. Do anyone have any suggestions on how to cope with this change?

  1. This is a great question, . Congrats on the new position! Several of our writers have written articles about their experiences with managing work and IBS. Here are a few: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/ibs-at-work/, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/coping-ibs-symptoms-work/, and https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/working/. 1.  I wear thick pads. At least if I have an "accident "I can contain it.

    2.  That's a great tip. I imagine it helps with the anxiety around flares as well? For me, being prepared definitely helps with that.
How have you been feeling lately?

  2. I use do it yourself toilet paper foam ,works wonders can carry a small foaming bottle in purse

    1.  I had never heard of that, how does that work? Foam sounds like a more gentle alternative to toilet paper! Karina (team member)

  3. I carry baby wipes/feminine wipes, pads, and underwear in my bag...everywhere I go. I always wear black pants and usually a sweater to cover my butt.

    1.  Thank you so much for sharing what works for you! I also find that being prepared helps so much with the anxiety about flares. How have you been feeling lately?
