Weather affecting IBS??

Does anyone else get uncomfortable IBS days when the weather changes?
It's been warm and steady here for a while, blue skies, moonlit nights. My IBS was steady also, and bordering on 'normal'!
Today I woke up to gloomy skies, and it was cooler with some rain. My tummy has not been right all day. Not a full scale flare up, just bloated, uncomfortable, loose bms.
I hadn't eaten anything unusual. The same foods as I ate recently. I haven't had any disturbing stress.
I found myself remembering slightly upset tummies occasionally way back when it was heavy grey skies with rain.
What sort of weather changes affect anyone else?
Is this really a "thing" or just one of my weird quirks?

  1. I don't personally get this but I have heard other community members describe what you have. You are definitely not alone. -Elizabeth (team member)

    1. Yes, I think it's more about barometric pressure. I do better generally in high pressure weather. I can even feel weather changes coming half a day or sometimes a whole day before things change.
The Met office ought to employ me! LOL!

      1. lol! That is so interesting! That is interesting to point out about barometric pressure. It's amazing how our environment can affect our health. -Elizabeth (team member)

    2. Yes, it is odd that thigs like that in the environment can affect our well being or health. I found myself wondering about ancient humans. Maybe they were even more in tune with changes like that, as the changes would likely have affected their lives quite differently to the way they would today.
Fast forward to now!...I can understand something like traffic noise, pollution, pollen, etc causing physical upsets, and beautiful rural settings creating relaxation and harmony, but it's hard to understand when it comes to weather (disregarding extreme cold or heat.)

      1. Definitely! I know whenever I get deep into nature, I feel so calm and soothed. You can't feel that way in an urban environment, that's for sure. I used to live in NYC and there were literally moments where I had to get out of the city to just decompress. Constant bombardment of traffic noise, pollution and just constant energy for the long run is not healthy. -Elizabeth (team member)

    3. I agree. when the weather is warm I feel better. As soon as the rain and dampness comes I know my day will be miserable. I have both lupus and IBS.
