3-4 years ago I used to suffer from what was diagnosed as general ibs. I'm a teacher so I think stress contributed quite a bit. However, I've recently been taking costco psyllium capsules (3 in the morning, 3 at night) along with 20mg of Omeprazole in the morning (as directed). My BMs are way more consistent and solid compared to the past. In addition I take a probiotic and the reduction in gas and losses BMs has been substantial. I'm convinced my lack of fiber was a major contributor slowing the digestion process. I HIGHLY recommend trying this as it has minimal side effects. The reduction in stomach acid helps slow the process and all for nutrient uptake. I take a number of other supplements but feel fiber has been massive difference maker. I wish you all the best.
