Odors That Make My IBS Problems Worse

I am wondering if others have IBS problems with odors in stores from a variety of inventory. One of my main problems is in home improvement stores like Lowe's or Home Depot, with so many different odors. Also, department stores that have perfume samples, etc., sprayed in the air.
We are presently doing some remodeling to our home, and every time we go to our nearby Lowe's store, I end up in the bathroom less than 5 minutes after we get there.
Anyone else with this problem??

  1. I don’t personally experience this (although I do get headaches from some stores), but I just recently came across an Instagram post about this and there were soooo many comments (from people who don’t have IBS, I assume) that had the same thing. I’m going to link that for you, I hope that’s okay: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0kKm2qvj9P/. So you’re not alone! I hope other community members will share their experiences with you soon.

  2. No, odours don't trigger my IBS. Neither do they cause me any symptoms of any kind, except perhaps disgust (for instance when farmers muck-spread the fields where I live!)
But strangely I have noticed one thing; there are fewer scents and perfumes that I like the smell of nowadays. Some smell awful to me, and they might even be very expensive designer perfumes. I much prefer natural oils made with flowers, barks, resins, herbs.

    1. Thanks for the info.
