Nerve Pain

Anyone else experience severe nerve pain in colon? It's debilitating and is worst in lower left side. I know they say we have hypersensitivity but has anything helped you??? Desperate.

  1. Hi - I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this pain. Is this a new symptom you are experiencing? Have you reached out to your healthcare team to discuss this? I hope community members will chime in to share their experiences. In the meantime, I wanted to send you a link to another forum where someone is asking about IBS and nerve pain: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/forums/ibs-with-nerve-pain. Warmly, Patty, Team Member

    1. mine is lower right side. I’ve been prescribed a lot of meds, when the Bentyl doesn’t work, I use zanaflex for muscle spasms and it seems to relieve the spasms. I am sorry we have to endure such as this. I’ve been to hospital many times without any relief. I say spasms as that’s what I feel. God bless

      1. I take pregabalin for pain. I wasn't keen as it's an antidepressant but I certainly notice the pain if I miss a dose. Buscopan helps too. I hope you get some relief soon

        1. I can understand your hesitation with taking an antidepressant, but I'm glad to hear it's working for you! I hope you find relief soon! Sending healing thoughts. - Kat (Team Member)

      2. I am sorry that you are having nerve pain, but I am glad that you mentioned it in the forum. I have been suffering muscle spasms and nerve pain in my colon for the last four years, and when I mention it to my gastroenterologist, my primary care physician, or my orthopedic doctor, they look at me like I have three heads and they think I am making the pain and tingling
up! I have the pain just before a BM, and also after, and the only thing that relieves it somewhat is a heating pad. I understand what you are going through, and I welcome other suggestions that help since the doctors don't acknowledge my pain.

        1. Pain sucks! I mean, that's the main point, I know, because I have been dealing with it for decades on my own chronic illness journey and stomach and digestive pain is some of the worst because it's not like you can rub it or touch it. As you can see, we are not the only ones who deal with pain https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/coping-with-physical-pain and it is frustrating for sure! Hopefully some more of our community members can chime in with their remedies for pain as well. Remember, you are not alone! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
