Morning Trouble

Hi all, I am after some advice. In short, I’ve been suffering from bloating, cramps and an urge to go number 2 more or less as soon as I wake. I then have diarrhoea. When I think I’m done, I finish up and go about my day… within 15 mins, I need to go again, same thing.. loose stools. This basically repeats itself 3/4 times in the morning with no appetite. Then around mid-morning, all of a sudden I begin feeling completely fine again and don’t tend to go again until the following morning. I have had it around 1 week with no history of IBS before. I’m 35 and put it down to a stomach bug but I’m beginning to think it’s something more. I have been to doctors and submitted a stool sample (which ironically was a normal stool). I am awaiting the results of those. It doesn’t help that I’m a health worrier which naturally exasperates the problem as it’s stressing me out now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh.. no blood found if that helps. Thanks, Carl.

  1. What you described is eactly what happens to me in an IBS flare-up. But I am not a doctor so can't say if yours is IBS or not of course.
I also get times for no apparent reason, of completely normal bm's, and sometimes that can go on for days or weeks. Even when eating the same food. Pretty 'safe' food. Then -still eating the same food -a flare might return, last a day or two, leave me a bit wobbly, then disappear and back to my ordinary self.
I find it quite baffling as all my tests are normal too.
There is such a thing as 'post infectious IBS'.
Also, a flare has an awful way of activating a natural anxiety while it's happening, even if we don't generally suffer from anxiety. It's horrible, I think. And talk about low-vibe thoughts! I hate feeling like that.

    1. yes,IBS causes my anxiety to worsen. I dont like this at all. I dont like the horrible gas that goes with my IBS

  2. Thanks for your reply, sorry to hear you occasionally suffer from this too. It really is horrible. Yesterday was the first time in over a week I felt my BM’s were normal, no cramps too even if I did go 3 times that morning. But waking up today, it’s all back again 🙁 my Stool sample came back with no bacteria detected and the Dr put it down to viral gastroenteritis saying it should settle up on its own with plenty of fluids? Hmm well time will tell.. maybe I’ll just try living with it for now and hope
It resolves itself on its own! Cheers.

    1. If it is a viral gastroenteritis as your doctor suggested, then hopefully it will get better one day. I do hope so. Some viruses can linger for a while, but eventually the body heals.
I remember having a respiratory virus like that at the end of 2016. It went on for about 8 weeks, then slowly disappeared, and I was fine. About the 6th week, I took some herbal immune support which I think helped kick it finally out of the way.

      1. I can repeat the same experience you are all having, but mine comes on at night, after dinner, I have D, and I go 5-6 times. I stay up until it stops. I take pepto, and I wonder how much I'm taking, and how often. Bloating and cramps are at a minimum.
This goes on for 2 or 3 nights in a road. Then I'm regular for 3 or 4 days. I'm retired
so I try to watch what I eat, but nothing changes.
