How do you manage your lifestyle with IBS?

Hi,
I am curious.
I had IBS-D for a while, only as of late has it been over taking my life.
I am curious how to you do fun or essentials things?
Today, I was at the grocery store and of course I had a flare up. I took an Imodium and tuffed it out, but what do you?
As I said I take pills, but my body can overcome them.
I advoid all social events, I hide from vacation, making friends is hard, and even going to the grocery store is hard.
How do you travel?
When I go out I either have a lot of abdominal pain that makes me feel like I have to go or I am in the bathroom going. I am not really fun anymore.
What do you do?

    1. I usually load up on Imodium. My gastroenterologist said I can take up to 4 a day if I need to. Luckily it's never been that drastic (but I have come close). I know that it can be such a bummer, but I try and avoid places without bathrooms and triggering foods. I would rather play it safe and duck out of an event rather than risk it all and have the possibility of the worst day in my life. Luckily my family and loves ones are understanding about my situation, so I hardly feel like I'm inconveniencing them. Know you're not alone in this and we're always here if you need anything. how have you been feeling as of late? Would love to know! Wishing you a gentle day ~ Sawyer (team member)

      1. 4 a day?! Wow! I didn't know you can take that many. Usually 1 helps me but does constipate me for a day or so.

    2. Prepare

      1. Preparation is key. I always have an emergency bag with me that contains baby wipes, feminine pads, peppermint oil, underwear and poopouri. How are some ways you prepare? -Elizabeth (team member)

    3. Agree always be prepared! I am so confused with my Drs. Advice recently diagnosed with Celiac. I went to Dr . Sure I have IBS-d. They ignored my thoughts and did tests said do gluten free diet and take benrfiber in am and mirralax every eve. They say my diarrhea is from constapation but crazy when you have IBS D don’t believe it could be possible! I know trigger foods and don’t eat when traveling till I arrive. Enough said so said they can’t figure this disease out!

      1. I've heard that before, that you can get diarrhea from constipation, but I compltely understand why it sounds hard to believe when you have IBS-D! I also have IBS-D and I would have the same reaction. Have you been feeling better since you stopped eating gluten and are taking Miralax?
