Ibs

I’ve had IBS for a long time mostly diarrhea but the last few years it’s been more constipation turning the diarrhea. Every three or four days when I go to the bathroom, my stools are huge and can hardly get them out finally after straining more and more I get them out they’re formed but huge and of course after that two or three times you’re gonna have a little diarrhea, what can I do to get these stools out and not so big. I’ve been using fiber some informing them up is not the problem. They’re just huge.

  1. That sounds really painful! I don't have experience with this personally. My first thought was, I wonder if a light stool softener would help. I know the down side to that could be the risk of diarrhea. Just wondering if you've tried this and what your experience was. Hopefully someone here can chime in with some personal insight! 1. I'm so sorry you're struggling with that, that sounds so painful. We have this article about foods that help with constipation: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/food/constipation-food-tips, have you tried any of these before?

I also wanted to share this article where our Health Leader Amy wrote about her experience with the quick change from constipation to diarrhea: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/mixed-ibs-shift, this seems to happen to many people unfortunately.
