I haven’t seen “regular” poop for a long time!

I’ve had IBS for a long time but within last 4 months, things started to change. It used to be IBS-D and very little constipation but now it’s either constipation or diarrhea. At best, my BM is small and narrow. Other times, it’s either liquid or soft diarrhea or pebbles. I’ve not had regular wide long poop for months. I’m really afraid this is cancer… can you tell me if you have similar experience and if it’s just another way IBS acts up???? I’d really appreciate your response as I’m really worried. BTW I do have an appointment for colonoscopy next month..

  1. I just replied to your other post about the same topic!

I'm glad that you have an appointment, it's always best to make sure.
Wishing you all the best, Karina (team member)

    1. I found the original post. Thank you!

  2. I can’t access that post for some reason. That’s why I posted again. Anyway you can tell me what your response was? Thank you!

    1. Yes, same experience here. In fact, having a normal BM for a couple of days makes me want to announce it to the world!

      1. That kind of describes how I am all the time. The difference between small and narrow and difficult to pass and soft and liquid that can be urgent makes it difficult to both pinpoint triggers and manage the symptoms. I never know if I’m making it worse or better. Everyone should have a baseline colonoscopy with follow ups determined at intervals based on the results of the first one. I personally do not think your experience sounds like cancer. Your procedure next month will answer some of your questions. Diverticulosis or internal hemorrhoids or even an ulcer or many other features besides diet can cause the changes you’re experiencing.

        1. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, that's really tough. Do you have IBS-M?
I agree what you say about tests, it would be best to have follow-ups, especially when symptoms change or new ones appear. Have you gotten any tests done recently?
