Help with symptoms

Hey!!

Soo I’ve been having symptoms for over a year now.
I have abdominal pain, it starts low down and just spread through my stomach and lower back. I suffered with this for about 6 months then all of a sudden it stopped! I had a good 4/5 months and it’s just come and hit me again. Sometimes I feel like I want to curl up, I feel nauseous everyday and it’s affecting my daily life. I’m sooooo gassy too.

I had tests done last year, a colonoscopy, an abdominal CT and MRI on my spine. This all came back clear luckily.
The doc says it’s probably just IBS and potentially some muscle damage/weakness (I had a baby 7/8 weeks before all my symptoms started).

Are these all normal symptoms and is it normal to last for months?! Does anyone else suffer like this and have any advice?

I can’t help feeling like somethings been missed and I really don’t want to feel like this for the rest of my life it’s awful and just draining.

Thank you

  1. In the colonoscopy did they take biopsies? It is possible to have microscopic colitis which can only be determined with a biopsy.

So sorry you are experiencing these symptoms. Could you possibly have some sort of an infection? Maybe ask your doctor to test for H. Pylori and SIBO?

Just thinking out loud. Maybe something to look into?

    1. Hi, thanks for your reply.
Yes they have done biopsies and the h.pylori tests. I’m not sure about SIBO.
I do have periods of both constipation and loose stools along with this so I definitely do think I have IBS but think something else could maybe be causing it too. Or maybe not! I’m just not sure if it’s normal to go on for this long.

      Thank you again

    2. I hear you. Unfortunately, you can have IBS for very long periods of time. And yes, it can be exhausting. I'm sorry you are dealing with these symptoms. Glad you got tested for those things at least so you can rule it out. How is your diet looking? -Elizabeth (team member)

  2. I eat quite well I think but I’m always very gassy.
I eat a balanced diet and eat fruit and veg (a bit of chocolate too) I do get bloated and full some days so sometimes will skip dinner later one. Is there anything specific that will set it off?
I’ve tried to rule things out but find it quite difficult to do and figure out what’s causing worse symptoms.

    1. Try keeping a food journal. Write down everything you eat, time and date a long with all your symptoms time and date to see if you can make any correlation. Maybe try focusing on eating a lot of prebiotic foods. Your gut flora is definitely off. Have to eat more good bacteria to help out your gut environment. Gas is typically bad bacteria. Is it bad smelling? If it is, more reason to think it is bad bacteria being the problem. Eating anything fermented/ pickled should help. Like sauerkraut and kimchi. -Elizabeth (team member)
