Fodmap

Honestly dont know how many times I've tried the low fodmap and fodmap diet and I'm ill, never again will I let anyone talk me into this dribble, sorry but to me fodmaps a waste of time and I've done my research , BIN IT !, I'm sticking to buying help from my pharmacy or doctor, ...rant over 🙁

  1. Thank you so much for your insight! The FODMAP doesn't work for everyone. There are some things that do trigger me on that list, ex. garlic, apples, moist dairy, sugar free candy. However, eggplant and eggs, which aren't supposed to do me dirty, absolutely do! What are some of your safe foods that don't necessarily fit into this specific diet? I'm sorry you've been so frustrated! Personally, I just stick with Imodium and Lactaid pills whenever I eat. Better to be safe than sorry than ask the waiter the specifics of how a meal is prepared. But that's just me! ~ Sawyer (team member)

    1. I agree with you, the high and low fodmap is rubbish to me as there is stuff on it that sets me wayyyy back and the stuff that doesn't couldn't be lived on lol so ile never trust or check it again, bye bye fodmap

    2. Hahaha I feel that! It's so subjective. How long had you tried it out for? Would love to know! ~ Sawyer (team member)

  2. ide say 2 weeks lol and before I died I stopped it lol

    1. That sounds like it was really completely wrong for you, I'm glad you didn't stick with it longer. Have your symptoms returned to normal once you stopped? Karina (team member)

    2. That's okay! Rather move along from a fail than get your hopes up with a diet that doesn't work and sucks! ~ Sawyer (team member)

  3. I feel you! The FODMAP diet worked okay for me in the beginning, but I end up being fine with many high FODMAP foods and can't eat some Low FODMAP options at all. You're definitely not the only one for whom it doesn't work. We even have an article about this here: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/when-fodmaps-doesnt-help. What kind of diet works the best for you? And I'm curious to know, what were the Low FODMAP foods that made you so ill? Karina (team member)

    1. I cant eat the low fodmap fruits like oranges, pineapples and more , or the vegetables like tomatoes cucumber broccoli, cheese of any sort, yet I can eat things from the high fodmap, anyway I cant remember the rest, but I still say it's a load of rubbish if you really look into it, hope no one gets annoyed at me

    2. That's so funny, these are the exact types of foods I also have to be careful with, although I can have some on a good day. Tomatoes are tough for me though, and by far the worst are pumpkins and squashes. We really appreciate you sharing your experience! There's no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to IBS and I'm sure that many other community members can relate. Karina (team member)
