Childhood trauma IBS adulthood

Hi, I'm learning that chronic severe IBS C in myself is probably the result of the trauma I experienced in my childhood.
Does anyone here understand this phenomenon too?
Regards from Evie dog in UK

  1. I can understand that, I look back to approaching teenage years and I was always stressed out because I needed the loo wherever I went. I'm having a bad patch now and I'm in my 70's but years between have been mixed with being ok and flare ups
    Hope you feel better soon

    1. Hi Gerry, Thank you for your kind reply today. I'm learning that the mind is powerful enough to cause physical illness. I'm about to start therapy and my IBS is exacerbated by the 5 separate psychological assessments I've recently had since December and the fact that they want me to now tell them what I want from therapy and what sort of therapy I want ๐Ÿ˜ณ
IBS C has recently taken over my life and I'm on daily meditations which help. But it still dominates my life every day.
Does anyone else here experience such daily domination from the digestive system? I hope I'm not the only one ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. You are definitely not the only one. I think it is great that you are being proactive and looking at the psychological aspect. I was going to therapy and it helped me symptoms. I need to pick it up again. I wish you the best. Keep us posted. Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

      2. You just gave me a new strategy...THANKS

    2. Thank you Elizabeth team member X After reading tons on the internet I am glad to read that it's reported that CBT for trauma is a choice. Kind regards from Elizabeth in UK Yorkshire ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

      1. That's great news. Best to you, Elizabeth (team member)

    3. Hi, do I have the worsted IBS C in the world? Does anyone else here have such bad chronic severe IBS C that they have to take 4 prescribed laxative tablets every night otherwise they'd have to have an operation to surgically remove the results ๐Ÿ˜•

      1. So sorry to hear this. That sounds awful. I'm wondering how your diet is looking like? Eating kiwi is very helpful for constipation. Also steamed veggies and fruits. -Elizabeth (team member)
