Weird involuntary facial expressions before/when burping?

I don't normally drink soda but today I did, and as I was drinking it my chest began to feel very gassy like I was about to belch. I wasn't quite ready to belch yet, but my mouth kept involuntarily making an uneven sort of expression, like the burps in my chest dictated my lower facial muscles. Sometimes this happens after a big meal too before a burp, my mouth sort of opens like it's ready for a burp even though I don't control it.

My facial muscles relaxed more after I released a few soda burps. But it's just that feeling when your chest is gassy but the burps aren't quite ready to come up but your mouth naturally prepares a big burp.

Do you know what I mean and does anyone else get this?

  1. I get this when I feel like I need to sneeze, so I feel you. I haven't noticed this with burps, but it makes sense that your muscles would prepare for what's about to come.
I hope others will chime in soon!

    1. Yes it's kind of similar to the faces we make before sneezing, except not as intense. Just more like an "about to burp" face.
