Straight after ar rides

My mother had IBS and I seem to be moving that way.
Just noticed that we both had attacks after riding in a car.

This happen to anybody else?

  1. I'm so sorry that you're both suffering from IBS.
To answer your question, I often get symptoms when I've been sitting for too long, mostly bloating and discomfort. A longer car ride can definitely trigger that for me. Here's an article about sitting and constipation, in case you're interested:

In addition, any kind of traveling (including car rides) tends to stress me out, which can also cause my IBS-D to flare.
I hope that other people will soon share their experiences with you as well!

    1. I'm almost never a passenger in a car. I just drive myself. But I have noticed that sometimes it's made me a bit worse, usually if I wasn't too good to start with. I related it more to having to go somewhere; to an appointment or "go out" somewhere. Even when all I have to do is fill up the car.
I think in my case it might be to do more with that slight stress of having to do something when I feel a bit dodgy to start with.

      1. Yes definitely! I think being in a car can increase anxiety therefore, increasing symptoms because we are nervous about not having quick access to a bathroom. Many, many times I have had to bolt out of a car to a bathroom because of an attack. You are definitely not alone. -Elizabeth (team member)
