Stomach ache. Do you experience it?

So I have been suffering from IBS for years. Its always tummy pains and cramps. I take Mebeverine every day and Esomeprazole 20 mg for my GERD.

Recently I am experiencing new kind of pain. Its not in my tummy. I feel pain in my stomch. Started three days ago. I feel like heaviness in stomach area like some air is stuck but I don't know. I have panic disorder and hypochondria so I am thinking if its ulcer or something but I am taking Esomeprazole for so long so I am trying to convince myself its not ulcers. Pain started wen I drank water two days ago. First day it goes away after a while. Second day it goes away too. But today I woke up and drank water and started to feel pain and like spasm in my stomach area and its still continuing.

I want to know do you guys experiencing stomach ache? I mean not the classic ibs tummy pain and spasm but pain in your stomach area. I want to know if I am the only one suffering pain on this area or if other IBS surfers have this kind of pain too.

Please reply. Thanks.

  1. I am so sorry you are going through this. It sounds awful. I have not had this type of pain before. You may be right about it being an ulcer. I would express your concern to your doctor right away, and demand for tests etc. I really hope you feel better soon. Are you able to eat anything at all? -Elizabeth (team member)

    1. No, I don't normally get pain in the stomach area (literal "stomach"😉 But sometimes if I get trapped wind in the colon I get sharp pains all over the place, but mostly in the transverse and descending colon. But the transverse colon runs very high up in the abdomen, and I have had those sharp pains moving about just above the navel, and sometimes over on the left under the ribs.
The pains seem to ricochet all over the place, even to my chest or upper back when that happens

The only reason I am sure it is wind is I can feel it moving about in a logical direction, then after it has stabbed me for a little while it can move to the descending colon. If/when it passes the pain is relieved.
But I can imagine if wind did get stuck for some time in the transverse colon, it could almost feel like the stomach?
It might be an idea to ask your doctor in case your pain and sensations might be a mild gastritis or something?
