Smelly stools with a cold

Just want to see if anyone else has this as doctors don't seem to believe me. Basically everytime I have a cold my stool and gas smells really bad (worse than a normal) and always smells the same with a cold. It's weird how I can almost recognise the smell and that I have a cold. Docs seem to ignore it but it really bothers me ?

  1. In my personal experience, everything can impact IBS, so a cold could definitely have an effect on your digestion. I personally don't experience this, however my IBS always acts up when I get a fever. Do you eat any differently or take any medication when you have a cold? I'm wondering if something like that could contribute as well. Karina (team member)

    1. I think we all have "weak spots" that when we are generally low anyway, those weak spots play up. But a large portion of the immune system operates from the gut. So maybe the microbiome changes while your immune system is put into overdrive? I wonder if a probiotic might help at times? I have heard Alflorex is good, but I haven't tried that myself.

      1. I think that is a great suggestion. I would try taking a probiotic to help during a cold to see if that offers any improvement. -Elizabeth (team member)
