What happens if a certain medication stops working?

I take rabonik -40, riflaxin 550, morease SR, and felt relieved for 20 days, could go on dairy and was really well. But after completing course doctor asked me to change diet i.e. avoid milk, lactose diet and I stopped talking medication. I suffer from bloating and abdominal pain for 10 out 30 days in a month and think that I will only take medication if it's emergency and don't take it regularly and take it only when pain builds up. My doctor said that I can take it I feel uncomfortable. I worry that one day this medication will stop working and I will again become uncomfortable. I regularly face bloating 15 out of 30 days and strong abdominal cramps 10 out of 30 days. Please help me whether my mentality about medication is right or wrong.

  1. ,

I think your mentality and thoughts on this medication issue are very, very natural and I know that many of us have felt the same way regarding any number of medications. That said, if it is currently working, don't assume it will stop. Enjoy the relief. If, at some point in the future, it stops working or doesn't work as well, you will deal with it. You are very strong having dealt with IBS up until this point. Medication change and management is part of the deal. But what you are feeling is very normal and to be expected. I wish you continued luck, keep us updated and I hope you are well today. -Todd, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team
