IBS flare up

Hi, I have had IBS for years with flare ups regularly however this one has been particularly bad and has lasted since before Christmas. I have a lot of diarrhea, which is awful and restricts me from doing things. I have had supplements, probiotics from health shop and prescription drugs from doctors. Has anyone any advice on what i can do/change to help? Thanks

  1. I am so sorry to hear this. I too am going through a bad flare. It is very depressing and aggravating. Have you ever tried Xifaxin?

    1. No i havent but have been looking into it and reading reviews. Have you? Does it work? Would like something that isnt prescriptions as they dont seem to be working ether. Thank you

      1. I have had IBS for many years but it had gotten so bad that it was disrupting my life.
I have tried Probioticsā€™s, prescriptions, changing eating habits nothing seemed to work. It was mostly diarrhea and some constipation. I tried something that completely changed my life. I started eating 1 avacado each morning ( my cardiologist suggested it for my heart) I mash it up put a little lemon juice on it and salt and pepper and apply it to. My English muffin the multi grain type that has a lot of fiber. I liked it so I started doing it everyday. After a few weeks I started having real normal bowel movements. No running to the bathroom 3 to 4 times in the morning. Iā€™m not saying this will work for anyone else, but I wanted to put it out there since it changed my life. I no longer take meds and I seem to be normal as I once was. Just wanted to share my experience in case it could help someone else. I no longer have to worry when I go out where the bathroom is. Running to use the bathroom is a thing of the past. Who knew an avacado each morning could change my life.

        1. - Wow! This is really great to hear. I'm glad this has been working out for you. Thanks for sharing your experience. - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team
