Lactose tablets (eg lactaid)

Hi all, the main triggers for my IBS are stress, caffeine, and also dairy. I was wondering if anyone has tried lactose tablets to help eliminate dairy products causing symptoms?
I would go ahead and try it, however currently having a flare up and am wary of trying something new,

Many thanks 😀

  1. I personally haven't tried it, but I know people have done so successfully. That being said, lactose pills shouldn't always be the go-to. I've personally found that cutting down on the amount of dairy I'm eating in general has helped immensely. Lactose intolerance and IBS can go hand-in-hand. The dairy I do eat I try to make sure it's good quality and less processed. That helps as well, especially when I want cheese and ice cream haha. Better quality lessens the effects it has in my body later. I highly encourage you to speak to a doctor or nutritionist about this! Dairy can be tricky to navigate, but you don't necessarily have to cut it out completely. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Michaela (irritablebowelsyndrome.net Team Member)

    1. So try and take lactaid with everything morsel of dairy I eat. I have found that it's helped on occasion, more often than not. Though when it comes to mac and cheese, there may be no saving me from the inevitable pain. Though it's just too good to quit! ~ Sawyer (team member)
