IBS with no constipation or Diarrhea?

Hi folks- not expecting anyone to diagnose me at all, I'm currently waiting for a hospital appointment- however, I have a couple of things I'm curious about. I've been having fairly moderate (not agony by any means) stomach pains almost every day for about two months now, alongside some periods of gassiness (and apologies if this is too much info, some testicular pain- which may or may not be related!). However, I've not discernable difference with my toilet habits. I do feel "better" once I've been to the toilet, and unless the changes are so subtle I can't tell, there's no difference. Has anyone else experienced IBS with "just" abdominal pain and gas? I'm pretty stressed by it to be honest (and this is a vicious circle! As I can be quite an anxious person at the best of times and I keep waiting for this to go away on it's own!) - especially as my mum died of colon cancer when she was 50. My GP has run blood tests, examined my rectum for masses and there is no blood in my stool so is fairly confident that it's not something "serious". Thank you! 😀

  1. Hi, - Thanks for submitting this question! Really glad to hear that your GP has ruled any serious conditions out. You'll have to keep us updated after your upcoming appointment! We actually have an article that addresses this exact topic here: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/clinical/can-you-have-ibs-without-diarrhea-or-constipation/. I hope this helps! - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team

    1. That does sound like a vicious cycle! Anxiety is one of my biggest triggers, so it becomes so ironic when that feeds into my triggers. How have you been feeling as of late? Are your symptoms still the same? I hope your appointment cleared a lot of things up for you! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Wishing you a gentle and symptom-free day ~ Sawyer (team member)

      1. You're lucky not to ever get constipated. I'd give anything to never get constipated ever again. 😃

        1. I get this. I have IBS-D and rarely get constipated, but when I do, it's so frustrating. I though you might enjoy this article about the different types of IBS: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/weighing-types. Karina (team member)
