Health anxiety & I.B.S. D.

I have suffered with I. B.S. D. for many years along with anxiety and depression. My IBS has been severe for weeks now. I now constantly have stringy poo & it's such a small amount each time unless it's full blown diarrhoea. Iv,e now convinced myself it's cancer. I have seen a doctor who a few weeks ago did a fit test to check for blood in my poo which came back clear. She also examined my back passage which was clear. I'm now no pooing much at all & it has mucus in it. She thinks it's nothing to worry about. But I,m not convinced. My life is on hold & my whole day I'm in a state of panic.

  1. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I would ask to be tested for Inflammatory Bowel Disease which is Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. Ask for a colonoscopy with biopsies. Also, if it's cancer it will be answered in the biopsies. I doubt it is. Deep breaths. Push for the colonoscopy and ask for bloodwork. Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

    1. Elaine, I am so sorry you're going through this. My advice is this-if you believe and know in your gut that this is not right, then I strongly suggest you go see another doctor to get a second opinion. Advocating fro yourself is so important, so don't be afraid to not take no for an answer! I hope you are able to find some answers and relief soon. Best wishes, Michaela (irritablebowelsyndrome.net Team Member)

      1. The very common candida yeast overgrowth produces toxins that can make anxiety much worse. Anxiety is one of the signs that you likely have candida overgrowth. Until you deal with those toxins by eliminating candida gradually, it can be very difficult to deal with anxiety. Might be worth looking into. There is a simple home test at www.candida-yeast-infection-relief.com which you can do to see if this might be an issue with you.

        1. Great tip. Thank you for sharing! -Elizabeth (team member)
