Eating

During the pandemic I had a colonoscopy and I was diagnosed with diverticulosis right around the time New York closed down. And so that's when I decided I would become vegetarian. With a bit of vegan as well. And the elimination of beef and pork and chicken has decreased my discomfort immensely. However, I began to rely on bread and potatoes and I've discovered I just can't eat most of the foods I used to. Also being vegan is quite expensive and it leaves me feeling very hungry so I eat more fish and I have discovered I can eat sliced turkey and sliced boar's Head chicken. Of course also discovered no matter what kind of food I eat on this planet I can find something wrong with it and if I mix too many foods together on doomed.
So for the rest of my life eating is going to be a challenge but if there's plenty of Jell-O I'm all in!
How do you deal with it, you know eating out family gatherings, dates?

  1. What I have been doing for years(pre-Covid)is make sure I eat prior to going to a function that is likely to be serving food. I carry a wine glass full of club soda or water to make it look like I’m partaking and it helps fool myself as well. If I want to do a dinner and show night, I have to do the event first then eat but make sure I’m close to home. Sometimes the attack happens quickly and sometimes not for a couple of hours. I just never know, as I’m sure you can say the same.

    1. Yes. Folks drinking alcohol won't notice! I like your approach. I'ts nice to communicate with someone who understands. Thanks for sharing!

      1. Hi, I am so sorry you are going through this. I deal with the same issues. What really helped me was going gluten free. I also do not drink alcohol anymore and cannot eat food that is not cooked first. So for me, no salads. It has helped a lot. Going out to eat is not fun, but it is worth it!
