Colonoscopy & IBS Flare
Hi - I just had my first colonscopy on June 3rd. Everything was fine. Since then, I’ve had extreme gas pains like embedded gas. I asked my GU dr about this and he said it will take about a week before things go back to normal. Yesterday morning, I had a sudden bout of gas,cramps and diarrhea. The gas still there and not letting up. I’m wondering if the bowel prep removes the good gut bacteria which might explain the gas?? Is there anyone else who’s had this issue or is familiar with IBS sufferers having issues after this procedure?

I've been talking to my nurse practitioner since my procedure on Saturday AM. I've been miserable and started doing my own research to learn why and how to best address it. I've had painful cramping, constipation, gas, pressure, painful bloating, and fatigue. I too take a pre/probiotic daily as well as Bentyl (Dicycloverine), but nothing helps but the exercises (pelvic floor and abdominal) I've found through further research. These exercises provide some relief but not lasting. I sometimes will have to do them 2-3 times daily or I'm miserable.
