Does anyone else feel as though they have excessive body odor?

Does anyone else feel as though they have excessive body odor? Sometimes I feel I could take two showers a day and still smell bad! It's worse during a flare up. Although my Dr. Has diagnosed me with IBS I am not thoroughly convinced there is not something more going on. I have been on Welchol for two years now, had a bout of cdiff 5 years ago when most of my issues started and my gall bladder out 9 years ago and things just went south. With each colonoscopy symptoms get worse and am now taking dicyclomine 10mg twice a day and welchol three times a day. Still I continue to have bouts of mucas stool that last forever it seems. I have followed fodmap diet occasionally straying to my comfort food of chocolate but most usually it's dark chocolate. What more can I do? I am slowly going broke trying to get so I can work. I'm fine for a week or two then bam out of no where here we go again! Sad part is I seem to be doing everything right but can't keep it going for more than a couple weeks! Peppermint oil has helped with the gas and dicyclomine and welchol help with firming up the stool but this mucas that is uncontrollable has got to go! I want my life back.. I have given up everything I loved to do, kayaking, hiking even walking and going to the gym! Work has become a huge issue as I work in hospitality and sales. How do others deal with this? Beginning to feel like a hermit. I have had back problems for years which has gotten worse but not a thing I can do about it as it is degenerative but this bathroom visit thing needs to lighten up or I'm going to be in worse trouble by not doing any exercise because I can't stay out of the bathroom. Anyone got any suggestions before I go even more broke and go to a different doctor?

I can't say that I have experienced the body odor issues, but have definitely been in a place where I always feel dirty, even after showering. You have several challenges that you are facing at one time, several medications and frustration. There are any number of reasons that this body odor issue has arisen. If you haven't spoken with your doctor about this specifically, I would try that, just to get their thoughts. I wish I could be more help and perhaps others will offer their experiences. Keep trying and letting us know how you are doing. We are always here to offer support. -Todd, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team
