SIBO and VSL3

I'm being treated for SIBO. After a week of antibiotics+probiotics I've just started with VSL3 sachets (another probiotic). Today it's the fifth day I've been taking it but...from the first day I'm having continous meteorism and bloating! The absurd is that this probiotics should be the treatment for my SIBO (which is related to meteorim, bloating and diarrhea) but side effects are very similar to my basics problems! Do you think it's normal? Thanks

  1. What is meteorism?

    1. I mean production of gas (flatulence), both stomach and bowel ways. What is incredible it's that one of my problems was the painful accumulation of gas but now with this probiotic it's even got worse! Bah

  2. Really interesting conundrum, . Have you mentioned this to your doctor? Since we can't provide you with any medical advice over the internet (for your safety), we can't comment on what's normal or not normal. I thought you might like to read one of our advocates' success stories regarding SIBO treatment: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/symptoms-gone/. 1. I haven't talked to any doctor yet because before starting this treatment my GE told me that it would take time to solve the problem; moreover, as I read somewhere, probiotics need weeks to proliferate in appropriate manner and I'm only at the half of my treatment (2 weeks left). Even though this, I find the behaviour of my bowel really odd...maybe someone has experimented this situation with probiotics during the treatment for SIBO
