I’m in my 70’s, had about 6” of colon removed because of diverticulitis. My father had diverticulitis and eventually died of colon cancer. I’ve had constipation for a good number of years. Then about a month ago, I had coffee, egg McMuffin and hash browns. I then experienced the worst diarrhea ever and had stomach pains for over a week. So things got a little better and I was trying to eat only fruits, vegetables and meat like chicken or something plain. Then last Saturday was my daughter’s birthday and I ate chocolate cake and ice cream. Big mistake. I had another episode so on Tuesday I went to see my doctor. She diagnosed me with IBS-D and Diverticulitis. Put me on Viberzi. So now I am just trying to make my way down this unfamiliar path.
