What If your body doesn't tell you when to go?

Lately I've been feeling I have to go when I don't, and can't tell that I have to go when I do. Anyone else experience this? It's so frustrating!

  1. Hey, - thanks for your question! Have you ever heard of visceral hypersensitivity? I thought you might be interested in reading this article where our contributor talks about having a lot of false alarms: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/false-alarms/. 1. I'm having that problem myself. The poly vegal nerve and my metabolism have stopped working according to my gi doctor. The poly vegal nerve is what connects the gut and brain and is the line of communication. Mine has shut down and we are trying many different things in order to reboot so I do not have to have surgery.

      1. I often feel like there is some more to come out, but there isn't when I get there. I never know if there really is or if I'm so constipated, I would have to strain to get it out.

        1. , thanks for your reply! It is so frustrating, isn't it? I feel like I spend more time running back and forth than I do actually going. I hope you are doing well and having a symptom-free day! -Amy, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net team
