Has anyone experienced IBS flares after shingles vaccination?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has ever reported or commented about the new shingle vaccination Shingrix triggering their IBS?

I believe the second shingle vaccination may have triggered my IBS. I have had digestive issues for over a week after my 2nd injection. It started a few hours after the dose. I had pain level of 7 on and off in my lower right abdomen. When I took my Bentyl it seemed to help get it under control. I ended up seeing my primary care physician. She sent me for a CT scan with dye to rule out any other problems. She diagnosed me as having a severe IBS attack and told me to stay on my Bentyl for a few days. Let me know if anyone else has experienced this. I’m not looking to take legal action. I was just curious if anyone else had any issues with their IBS after the Shingrix vaccination.

  1. I haven't received the Shingles vaccine. Hopefully others from the community will chime in. I will say however, that I have heard others reporting IBS worsening after receiving certain vaccinations.

    1. Had my second shingles vaccine last week.and a day or two after started with severe pressure and pain in my upper and lower abdomen. Currently in the throes of a pretty bad ibs attack. I was feeling really good before the second shot and wondered it the vaccine triggered the episode.
I’ve been wondering if anyone else had a similar experience so thank you for posting.

      1. I am so glad I found this site first thank you, I had my second dose of my vaccine this past Saturday during the night is when I started getting my reaction to it from headache, freezing, then hot, tired, arm very sore, feeling nausea , but sense yesterday Monday I’m experiencing severe stomach pain upper and lower and feel bloated, can’t sleep because of the pain. I’ll call my dr in The morning,

        1. Hi, - Glad you found our site, too! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. How are you doing today? - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team

      2. Hi Chris thank you I am feeling better. I didn’t call my dr., I stayed in bed pretty much all day and took it easy the next. Though it does seem my IBS has been acting up a bit more sense then. But hoping things will get to my semi normal self.
This does make me worry about the COVID shot, for myself I don’t want to get it anytime soon.
