For a bit of history I started suffering from IBS in senior year of high school and have been struggling ever since. In 2023 my anxiety about IBS really controlled me. I would eat less meals because I thought if I ate anything it would trigger a flare up. Having constant stress did not help either. Now it's winter break and my IBS i feel like has gotten better. Maybe it's not the stress of traveling to college not getting to me, but also I know what to expect from IBS flare ups and I know what to do. My 2024 goals are to take my body back and be in control again.
I already am on Linzess which works for me. Aside from taking my linzess I also take peppermint capsules for cramping or to help with digestion and it helps alot to the point where I do not need to take my prescription for cramping. I will take a probiotic from time to time but not daily. I also try to do a daily stomach massage with castor oil. That helps with bloating and constipation
My anxiety has improved since taking multivitamins, vitamin d3, and magnesium glycinate daily. I continue to stick to that regime.
I am prioritizing drinking more water. As well as eating whole foods at home and limiting eating out, although I will not deprive myself of my cravings. Being present while you eat and chewing food for a couple seconds help with digestion. Hopefully these tips help someone else.
