Baked beans and severe wind

I like baked beans and I heard they're good for you, and I don't want to have to give them up for good. But whenever I eat baked beans I suffer later.
My belly bubbles and gurgles and is painful, and as I lay I can feel the bubbles moving across my belly and I can't always pass the wind straight away. Stroking my belly usually helps to ease the pain.
When I fart it usually feels hot and the smell is so foul that I can't get rid of it and even in the morning there's still a rotten eggy smell hanging in the air.
I usually go to the toilet after baked beans though, no diarrhea or constipation, just normal healthy stools, so I like that.
But I just don't know why baked beans causes so much bad wind like that. Also I keep doing burps that taste of baked beans so they seem to cause wind coming out both ends. Sometimes a burp brings up baked beans into my mouth (I assume it's baked beans, as the liquid tastes like it).

Anyone know how I can enjoy baked beans without the rotten after effects? The only good thing is they make me pass stools healthily.

  1. It's so tough when a food we love triggers symptoms, I can really relate to that. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like your digestive system likes baked beans right now. If I were you, I'd probably just cut them out for a while to give my gut a break. However, since you said that you don't want to do that, here are some ideas to make them more easily digestible for you:
    - eat the beans at the end of an otherwise safe meal, for example after white rice. I find that mixing slight triggers with rice usually works for me.
    - limit the quantity you consume.
    - make sure that they're cooked very, very well. I haven't tried that with beans, but I always make sure that vegetables are well cooked so I can digest them better.
    - don't eat them too often. I have found that consuming a certain food all the time can lead to more symptoms for me, so I like to take breaks when that happens.
I'm not sure if any of this will help, but it might be worth a try. Hopefully, other community members will chime in to share their tips with you.
