Anxiety

Hi I've been struggling with IBS-D for 9years. This condition took me out of my final year of high school and has had me homebound for the past five years rarely leaving the house. I've recently decided to go to college in the fall but my fear and anxiety of social interactions that develop over these past five years is really hindering me in staying committed to go to school this fall. Any advice would be much appreciated

  1. Thanks for submitting this topic! Managing IBS at school can certainly be tricky, but while we wait for others to chime in, I thought I'd share an article that offers some tips: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/living/10-ways-manage-ibs-school. Hope this helps. - Chris, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team

    1. It's the worst isn't it? I have severe anxiety along with PTSD and it really is just that endless cycle of being anxious about having a flare up = flareup lol. Speak to your teachers, I had a medical card where I could leave classes and leave college all together if I showed it... I honestly didn't use it all that much but just knowing I had it if I needed it took off so much stress and pressure! Also maybe start a conversation about doing some work online, I had to leave college and do all of my work online but when I did attend a regular school I took days off due to IBS and just did my lessons online. It will get better once you become adjusted to the new environment, You got this. 😀

      1. That must be so difficult, I'm sorry. Do you have friends and family who support you?
I hope the testing will provide you with answers and make it easier to get the right treatment! Please keep us updated on how you're doing (if you want, of course). Sending positive vibes, Karina (team member)

      2. My family have been absolute stars throughout all of this and I am so grateful! Thank you for being so sweet and I hope your well!
