Viberzi

I have IBS-D but not ALL the time. My dr. gave me Viberzi samples but I'm afraid to try it bc I don't have diarrhea every day. Is it still ok to take it even if you don't D everyday? Has anyone tried it?

  1. Hi, Emily! My apologies for the delayed response! Thank you for reaching out, and I hope you were able to find some helpful information regarding Viberzi. I just wanted to share two relevant articles with you in case you were still seeking more information:

    1. I WANT to try Viberzi but the caregivers at the local clinic "don't feel comfortable" prescribing it to me. Well news flash, I'm really uncomfortable with chronic IBS with diarrhea. Now who do I seek out?

      1. Hi, I tried Viberzi but it didn't work for me. I had stomach discomfort and still had diarrhea. My doctor put me on a cholesterol lowering drug when taken in smaller doses helps stop diarrhea. It's called Welchol. It seems to be working! 2x a day but I've found once a day works for me. Your clinic may be "more comfortable" prescribing that for you. GOOD LUCK!!

      2. Viberzi works. Fixed my IBS

    2. Are there more messages concerning Viberzi that I'm missing. I am new to this group and am just getting around this web site. I have IBS-D and have struggled with it for years. It seems to have been getting worse over the years and so I am now taking Viberzi regularly and it help me a whole lot. However, I still have problems which seem to depend on what I eat, so I am now tracking my diet in conjuction with Hi and Low Fod-Map foods. It's been quite surprising to me that foods I've enjoyed for years (I'm in my 70's) can now give me problems. Now I'm now only lactose intolerant, I can't eat some fruits and vegetables that I love. It gets me down at times.

I also have Multiple Sclerosis and so wonder if anyone else in this group has an auto immune problem of any kind? Some posit that IBS is auto immune as well. Perhaps that's why my IBS is getting worse. Anyone? But, I can tell you that with all my maladies, including cancer, this IBS has been the most difficult to deal with, as it has really impacted my day-to-day life the most.

I have really gotten a lot of good from some of the articles that have been posted on his site. It's nice to hear from others that are going thru the same problems. So, I wish you all who might be reading this, put on smile and have a good day!!!

      1. Viberzi has helped me loads but it’s not the only change I made.
My gastro did breathe tests to see if I had a sensitive to fructose, lactose and sucrose.
Turns out I cannot tolerate fructose.
Soooo viberzi coupled with low fructose diet has completely fixed my issues.
I suggest you get those breathe tests too and see what else could be causing your problems. Dr. Chuck Randall and his team in San Antonio, Texas fixed me!

    3. Hi Sevens01, thanks so much for reaching out. One of our contributors, Kim Dolce, has both IBS and multiple sclerosis. You may be interested in reading some of her articles -- here's a link: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/experts/kim-dolce/.

In terms of Viberzi: I don't have any personal experience with it, so I'm afraid I'm not much help in that area, but you can read a bit more about it here: https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/medications/viberzi-reviews-how-well-it-works-and-side-effects/. You're not the first person who has dealt with cancer and IBS and who says the IBS was the most difficult to deal with. That really says a lot about how difficult it is to live with this condition! Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences soon, too. I wish you a good day and a smile, too! -Becky, IrritableBowelSyndrome.net Team
